Night Urination (Nocturia)

Night urination, also known as nocturia, refers to the need to wake up during sleep to pass urine. While occasional waking may not be unusual, frequent interruptions can affect sleep quality and overall well-being.

Nocturia can be associated with prostate-related conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), where bladder function is affected by prostate enlargement. It may also be influenced by fluid intake patterns, certain medications, or other medical conditions.

The impact of nocturia is often underestimated. Repeated sleep disruption can lead to daytime fatigue, reduced concentration, and decreased quality of life.

If night urination occurs regularly, especially more than once or twice per night, it may be worth understanding the contributing factors and considering whether further evaluation is needed.
